Behram V. Parekh has been litigating complex class action and mass tort litigation for his entire career. Mr. Parekh has represented both individuals and institutions in complex litigation matters, and has been appointed as lead or co-lead counsel in numerous cases in the litigation of consumer fraud, false and misleading advertising, unfair competition, securities fraud, and products liability cases. Mr. Parekh is regularly invited to speak at conferences on issues relating to consumer fraud, complex litigation, arbitration, and discovery of electronically stored information.

Mr. Parekh has been litigating class action and mass tort cases for the past 25 years and has significant experience in taking and defending both fact and expert witness depositions, arguing significant motions such as Daubert and summary judgment, as well as being on trial teams. Mr. Parekh’s experience is not limited to simply litigating cases at the trial court level, but taking them through appeal where necessary and Mr. Parekh has successfully argued numerous cases before multiple Federal circuit courts of appeal as well as California state courts of appeal. Mr. Parekh’s strength lies not only in his ability to do the work, but using his experience and management skills to ensure that the work done by the committees he chairs is done well, efficiently and in a timely fashion.

Mr. Parekh also has extensive expertise and knowledge related to computer systems and the discovery of electronically stored information (“ESI”). Mr. Parekh has a background in computer science and has been selected by his peers to oversee and negotiate ESI protocols and the discovery of ESI in numerous complex actions, as well as regularly being asked to speak at conferences on ESI and security issues. Specifically, because of this expertise and experience, he was in charge of the ESI and discovery committees, and the primary plaintiffs’ attorney responsible for negotiating and arguing ESI related issues, in all of the below listed cases in which he served as lead counsel, PEC member, or PSC member.

Recent cases in which Mr. Parekh has being appointed to a leadership position in MDLs in both class action and mass tort cases include being appointed as co-lead counsel in In re: Apple iPhone 4 Products Liability Litigation, MDL-2188 in the Northern District of California (class counsel), as sole lead counsel in In re: Pom Wonderful LLC Marketing and Sales Practices Litigation, MDL-2199, in the Central District of California (class counsel); as sole lead counsel in In re: Oreck Corporation Halo Vacuum Air Purifiers Marketing and Sales Practices Litigation, MDL-2317, in the Central District of California (class counsel); as part of the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee in In re: Benicar (Olmesartan) Products Liability Litigation, MDL-2606, in the District of New Jersey (mass tort counsel); as part of the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee in In Re: Bair Hugger Forced Air Warming Devices Products Liability Litigation, MDL-2666, in the District of Minnesota (mass tort counsel); as part of the Plaintiffs’ Steering and ESI/Discovery Committees in In Re: Abilify (Aripirazole) Products Liability Litigation, MDL-2734, in the Northern District of Florida (mass tort counsel); and as part of the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee in In re Valsartan, Losartan, and Irbesartan Products Liability Litigation, MDL-2875, in the District of New Jersey (both class and mass tort counsel). In addition to MDL appointments, Mr. Parekh has also served in leadership positions in numerous California state court Judicial Council Coordinated Proceedings, which are effectively mini-MDLs for cases filed in California state courts.
