Colette McEldowney

Attorney

Colette McEldowney contributes several years of significant trial experience, serving victims of crime and the underrepresented. Colette graduated with honors from Oregon State University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, and a minor in Spanish. At Oregon State, Colette served as the student body Judicial Board Chair, advising over disputes within the student body. Colette went on to earn her Juris Doctorate from Lewis and Clark Law School. In her first year of law school, Colette was awarded the Best Oralist award in the Moot Court Competition. Colette interned at the National Crime Victim Law Institute, where she worked to protect, enforce, and advance victims’ rights. Colette also clerked for the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office, where she began gaining trial experience as a law student.

After graduating law school and passing the Oregon bar in 2012, Colette continued her commitment to justice and passion for victims’ rights as a Deputy District Attorney for the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office in Portland, Oregon. At the District Attorney’s Office, Colette took difficult cases involving Domestic Violence and other serious crimes to trial.

She also handled dependency cases, those involving neglected children and victims’ rights, and worked with the Mental Health Specialty Court. Colette was appointed as the District Attorney’s Office lead liaison for the Threat Assessment Team with the Portland Police Bureau, and was also appointed to the Equity, Dignity, Opportunity Council, working internally and externally to keep the community safe. In addition to litigating criminal cases, Colette worked with the Department of Homeland Security investigating Special Immigrant Juvenile Status cases.

Fighting For Rights

Following her time as a Deputy District Attorney, Colette worked at Goldberg Jones PLLC, a premier family law firm in Seattle, WA. There, she advocated on behalf of her clients, providing routine advice regarding litigation and pre-litigation matters, and spearheading negotiations.

Colette is admitted to practice law in California, Oregon, and Washington. A competitive, dedicated attorney, Colette has an eye for detail and always follows through. She is a strong advocate and a passionate litigator, having first-chaired 47 jury trials to completion in her career thus far. Colette is a sharp, thorough attorney, with a deep compassion for her clients.

When she is not fighting for the rights of her clients she enjoys devoting time to Community Health Councils in South Los Angeles, and also actively supports the Lupus Foundation of America. Colette enjoys spending time with friends and family, hiking, cooking, and watching college football.
